The Machinery

There were reports from a lone farmer in the rural lands of Vietnam, living next no one else but his wife and two children. On a blistering summer, he said out of nowhere he witnessed a red, headless giant roaming around, simply walking and pushing off the trees in the forest in front of him. It did nothing but wander around curiously, steadily becoming more careful in its movement, as its articulation evolved from being baby-like to a degree of animated precision as it adapted to its environment. The farmer couldn't believe his eyes, and inspite his instinct, he approached it. When the giant saw him, he transmitted a warm hum and its eyes flashed about. He never figured out what it was or why it was there, but in the few hours he encountered it, he quickly formed a kinship to it. Eventually it departed, and the giant became nothing but a newly born folklore.
