The Model 2500 phone was introduced as a replacement for the short-lived Model 1500, adding a touch tone star (*) and pound (#) buttons to the phone. The Model 1500 itself was a touch tone replacement for the Model 500, which was probably the most widely used rotary dial telephone in the United States. The Model 2500, or its wall mount brother, the 2554, were probably the most widely used touch tone phones in the US. With the introduction of the cordless phone and digital telephony, this classic saw its end. It, along with its rotary predecessor, remain two of the most reliable phones to have ever been used.
