Allows for linking different UI elements with different relationships. Abstracts away programming for basic things (like open/close buttons) while reducing more complex actions to an ID that a programmer could correspond their functions to. The idea is separation of concerns between UI design and UI programming, while still allowing for a mostly functional layout during the design process.
